Well, the new-look winterhawks.com is up and running. As the site grows you can expect lots of video features, articles, news updates and much more. We went for a clean, user-friendly look and style, and we hope you enjoy the new site.

Along with launching a new Web site, there’s been quite a bit going on the last few days, not the least of which is the opening of training camp with over 100 players in town getting put through their paces. If you need a hockey fix, you can come down to the Coliseum in the morning to watch practices, and check out some intra-squad scrimmages in the afternoon.

Speaking of intra-squad games, later this week you can check out the inaugural Neely Cup. After the initial round of cuts, the Hawks will split into four teams and play a round robin tournament. Each team will be named after a prominent Winterhawks alumnus (the names will change each year). This year we’re focusing on the inaugural 1976-77 Winterhawks team, and so far we’ve announced two teams: Team Bandura, in recognition of Jeff Bandura, the team’s first NHL draft pick, and Tony Currie, the leading scorer of the 1976-77 team. We’ll be announcing the final two names tomorrow and Wednesday.

Games run Wednesday through Friday at 3 p.m. and 4:45, and all games are open and free to the public, so make sure you come down and check them out.

Of course, it’s hard to believe but our first preseason game is Saturday against Seattle, and it will be a Futures Games, with the two teams primarily playing their 15 and 16 year-olds. Tickets are just $10, so make sure you come down and see the young guys.

Did you know that AOL customers cannot access the Winterhawks website? Everytime I click on the links, I get an error message. If I want to visit their new site, I have to exit AOL and enter through Internet Explorer. Hassle..yeah! Do you know how I can fix it? Thanks for your help.

This is the first we’ve heard of the issue. We will look into it for you.

There is no mention of donating unwanted tickets on the new website, is the program still ongoing?
