With NHL prospects camps coming to a close and main camps set to begin, here’s a quick look at where the Winterhawks players stand with their teams:

Brett Ponich: The St. Louis Blues have announced that  Ponich has been invited to the Blues’ main training camp, which begins Saturday. He played for the Blues’ entry in the Traverse City tournament and had an assist in four games. Ponich will be suiting up in camp alongside such NHL stars as Keith Tkachuk and Paul Kariya. Luke Walker: Walker had an outstanding showing for the Rangers at the Traverse City tournament, leading the team in scoring with five points in four games. Portland GM and Head Coach Mike Johnston talked to Rangers brass, who gave Walker rave reviews. He won’t be going to main camp with the Rangers, but expect them to follow his progress very carefully this season. As an undrafted free agent, he was a long shot to get a main camp invite, as NHL main camps only last about three days before preseason games start, and teams are trying to get systems in place among players they expect to suit up for them during the regular season or players who will play for their AHL teams, which Walker isn’t eligible for as an 18 year-old.

Kurtis Mucha: Mucha saw action last night as Oilers prospects took on Canucks prospects. He came in midway through the second period and shut out the Canucks, helping lead Edmonton to the 6-3 victory. No word yet on any possible invitation to the Oilers’ main camp.

Tayler Jordan: Jordan played for Columbus’ entry in the Traverse City tournament, notching an assist. The Winterhawks are still waiting to hear if he will get invited to Columbus’ main camp.

Spencer Bennett: A fifth round draft pick of the Calgary Flames in the draft this year, the Winterhawks are waiting for word on whether Bennett will be going to their main camp.

Travis Ehrhardt: Last year’s team captain signed a three-year free agent contract with the Detroit Red Wings in the offseason, and the Winterhawks are anticipating he’ll be attending Detroit’s main training camp.

Next up for the Winterhawks are games in Tri-Cities this weekend against the Americans on Friday, and Lethbridge on Saturday afternoon.
