What might happen if my home computer crashes one more time

Last night I got home from work, fired up the home computer and loaded 95.5 The Game’s website in order to listen to Luca Sbisa’s interview with John Strong. Within two minutes, I was unleashing a barrage of expletives that rivaled any rant from Ari Gold.

You see, my home computer has a penchant for crashing at the worst possible moment, leading to a thought process that goes something like this: “That’s weird, why is the audio skipping…must be a bad feed…this is a little frustrating…wait, why can’t I close out of this tab…why is the cursor frozen- noooooooooooo!”

(At this point, you may be wondering why I didn’t just turn on the radio. An excellent question I have no answer to).

It’s not something that happens every day, but it happens enough that when it does I’m not entirely surprised. But it doesn’t lessen my white hot rage.

These ramblings are a precursor to this: I will be hosting another live chat tonight as the Winterhawks take on the Giants in Vancouver tonight in Game 3 of their series, pending any more home computer meltdowns. So if I happen to disappear for 15 minutes with no prior explanation, just assume I’m rebooting my computer while having devolved into a screaming, sobbing mess.

The live chats seemed to be a lucky charm in the Spokane series: the team was 4-0 when we hosted them, a fact I’m willing to take all credit for. Hopefully the same will hold true tonight, as the Hawks look to get on the board against the Vancouver Giants. What remains to be seen is if tonight’s live chat will bring in the same number of women who were present for the Game 7 chat against Spokane: in a truly astonishing turn of events, the women seemed to outnumber the men that night, the first time in Internet live chat history that’s ever happened.

Aside from the number of women involved, the chats during the Spokane games certainly had their moments, my favorite being the person who asked about the current whereabouts of former Hawk Jason McBain, which immediately led to three different people who had not yet submitted a comment sending in very specific info about his current situation. Those three people were then never heard from again. It led me to making a joke about Treadstone that exactly one person got. It also led me to wonder just how many people were lurking without submitting any questions or comments.

If you’re going to join us for the first time tonight, I have a few house rules when it comes to live chats:

-No excessive use of exclamation points; that means no more than one at the end of any sentence. And really, exclamation points are rarely needed. After a goal or a great play, sure. But there’s no need for “Thanks!!!!!!”.

-Basic grammar: anyone who mixes up “your” and “you’re” is out. Same for “there”, “their” and “they’re”. If you post something that resembles this: “Your right, there power play is good tonight” your (note the usage) IP address is getting banned.

-Don’t use abbreviations like “u” for “you”, “ur” for “your”, “2” for “to”, etc. I know things move fast in a live chat, but those drive me crazy. My chat, my rules.

-No profanity. It’s lame.

-The chat is moderated, so I have to approve comments before they’re (again, see the usage) posted. So if I don’t get to something, save the comments about free speech or communism. This is a family friendly chat and I aim to keep it that way. And I consider promoting the use of proper grammar to be an important family friendly initiative.

Join us around 7 p.m. as you listen live at Freedom 970 or watch the WHL Livestream.

Kudos to you for taking a stand on the whole “internet-ese”, and everyone’s favorites (your/you’re, there/their/they’re). From someone who gets fairly annoyed at such things (although I use the occasional btw or imo, but I NEVER lol), thank you.

Glad you’re on my side with this. While my obsession with proper grammar doesn’t exactly make me the life of the party, it’s worth it to fight the good fight.
